Here are a couple of amps I did this year - both feature an EF86 in V1.
The first one in this thread is a parallel single-ended amp with trem that can run a variety of octals in the output stage. With a single 6L6 it gets to about 8W, and with 2 x 6V6s its about 10W.
Schematic for the above amp. tubeswell-SE-Amp-with-6L6.pdf After I finished the above single-ended amp, I decided I liked the way the EF86 sounded and thought about a building a more powerful gigging version, so I took the same pre-amp design for the EF86 stage and put it in front of a 6G3 (brown deluxe) circuit with 2 x 6V6s in Push-pull in the output stage (and a 5G9 style trem). This amp puts out about 25W (and is louder in all kinds of ways) and easily handles gigs in medium-sized bars. I haven't covered it yet tho'.
Here's the schematic for the more powerful (second) EF86 based amp. It has Merlin Blencowe's (Valve Wizard's) 'Bone-Ray' tone stack (which is a modified Big Muff Style tone stack with a mid-scoop/hump shift control) - groovy sounding. tubeswell-EF86-Bone-Ray-Stack-Schematic.pdf A shot of the second amp from the outside looking in.
With the coat tails on.
Front shot.
