"Just one more."
The OD Twanger 85 ...by Guitar Bob Ohsiek Out of a neglected Fender Showman head from a Pacific Grove back yard... Too good to toss, I hacked off the rustiest end, picked out the leaves and spiders, rewired it as a single-channel 85-watt head, and stuffed it all into redwood and alder boxes I made from salvaged shelves. I 'Dumbledorked' this one [sounds like it to these old ears, anyway]. I'm tired of waiting for one [or a Fuchs, Two-Rock, etc.] to pop up in the Pennysaver. Dumbles bring what, $10K?, how much magic can there really be to it, esp. w/ all the info. out now, [so, for forty or fifty dollars total for parts and vinyl, did I save $9, 050?]
some features:
-an extra tube drive stage -post-preamp master volume -Moxie control :-) [presence] -tighter cathode caps and resistors [drop some bass, boost mids] -big power caps -added a PC fan -a speedometer to keep from getting tickets [OK, it's a bias meter] -a homemade beam blocker behind the grillcloth, for your protection Check out the 4 ICBMs in back. That much horsepower calls for my last spare EV-12. [Side vents added to spread out some of that moxie.]
I was recently moving furniture around and piled up my amps for a 'shoot' a few weeks ago. Check out this stack of stuff [kinda too much, I know. I'll probably end up selling off the Fender stuff and keeping the homebrew equip.]
