Frowser: The King With Personality Plus

Frowser - The King With Personality Plus Album Cover CD notes and music reviews by Justin Hayes
The minute The King With Personality Plus begins you can tell this foursome is out to break new ground. Frowser isn't a surf rock band, but I'm not quite sure where to categorize them — and that's a good thing, because it means they don't fit into a preset mold. They are blazing their own path and leaving an impressive trail in their wake. Frowser's sound is textured and dynamic. Never relinquishing their hold on the listener, the instruments and vocals grab and hold with increasing power. To be honest, a lot of genres would benefit greatly by adding Frowser to their playlist.

The Internet is filled with myriad rave reviews of their live performances. Comments ranging from "technically amazing" to "seduces a crowd as effectively as nerve gas seeping through the floorboards" abound. And, indeed, the badge of this band is an ability to move within their sound with agility.

Formed in 1998, Frowser's influences are eclectic and interesting. They make a concerted attempt not to be pigeonholed and to try to do so would be a disservice to them and the new path they're walking.

Dave Barry once said of the baby boomer generation, "We knew the dirty words to Louie, Louie, including the ones that didn't exist." Now that's a song — one that has the power to engage an entire generation. Do not be surprised if Frowser comes up with the current generation's Louie, Louie.

My thoughts? Frowser is going to go somewhere big and make one hell of a splash. They are that good!

The cover song, The King With Personality Plus, is gripping. Explosive power and energy from the entire band commands your attention and sets the pace for the tracks that follow. Frowser's unique style is punctuated by The King With Personality Plus.

10 Differences is heavy, edgy and tough. The opening interaction between the bassist and drummer grabs your attention and pulls you into a heavy guitar driven Adrenaline rush.

By the time you reach Gluey Blue the anticipation is growing, and Frowser doesn't disappoint. Gluey Blue is strong and gentle in juxtaposition, showing another side to the skills these players possess.

kNEEDozER is filled with heavy in-your-face power. There are no background musicians. Everyone calls to you with overwhelming ferocity.

Flavour Of The Month runs eleven minutes plus of unremitting charismatic vocals with exceptionally diverse and thick instruments. Do not miss any of Flavour Of The Month! It surprises, tantalizes and mesmerizes at each turn.
